    Internet marketing and advertising
have become the most popular work
    from home employment ventures.
There has been a drastic increase in
    small home businesses since 1996.

    Many of these struggling entrepreneurs
are part of a campaign designed to
abscond with every dollar that you
    have ever made.
It is business and perfectly legal.

In real estate there is this, "truth in lending", pamphlet that must be
presented to the consumer  before money changes hands.
(They generally present it at the time the contract is signed. That is a little
    late if you ask me.)
Whatever happened to the" truth in selling" in advertising?

Keeping that in mind,  why would anyone want to start one's own
    home business?

Working at home gives you more control of your time. There is freedom to
set your own work hours and some great  ways to spend the extra time.
  • Daytime hours can be used to complete activities that  are only done
    during the day.
  • Use the time to get to know your children, their friends and their
    teachers.
  • Join the Parent Teacher Association in your child's school.

  • Get involved in extracurricular activities in the community with
    and for your children.

  • Plan for a great high school experience by working to improve the
schools in your hometown. Throw caution to the wind.

  • Run for a seat on the Board of Education.  Get in on the policy
making  and policy enforcement that directly affect the educational
development of your child and your community.

  • Take a much needed vacation. Develop and follow a healthy
                diet and exercise regimen.
  • Make your spare time count for something that will benefit you and
your family. Read a book just for fun. Encourage and make sure that
the kids are reading well and also just for fun.
  • Watch your back when you and your children are on the Internet.

Which Internet programs should you join?
There are literally thousands of programs out there. Some of them are very good and
ran by people with integrity and years in the business. There are just as many trying to
get your money in unethical ways. In my readings and research I have found that
developing a business on the Internet does not involve thousands of dollars in start
up funds. It does involve a lot of time and a very tough skin.  Anyone saying different is lying to
you.  I wish I had known that in the beginning.
  • Join a traffic exchange.
  • Surf the exchange.
  • Take notes.
  • Bookmark sites that impress you and that offer products that you can
    promote with a passion.
  • Check the Alexa ranking of all programs that you think you like.
  • It is a good idea to really read the terms and conditions of membership
of any program before giving them your private information.
  • Learn to use email campaigns, write ads, do keyword advertising
  • Blog
  • Join social and business networks
  • Develop a strong profile and use integrity in your business dealings.
  • Find out How many services are available before you begin to pay? Some programs are
actually free to join, but require a monthly fee to use.
  • Avoid downloading a lot of stuff. Downloads carry a lot of stuff than can be harmful to
    your computer
  • Avoid pre-launches.

Keep in mind that all programs demand promotion and promotion costs money
down the line. Nothing in life is really free.  Eventually you must spend money in
order to make money.  Many of the programs that I joined and invested in four years
ago are no longer in existence.

Avoid programs that claim you can make millions in weeks or months, 30 minutes
a day in your pajamas. Do you really think you can do all the tasks listed here in
that little time. Many Internet marketers straight out lie while trying to hook you.

How do I get on the Job Training?
Select programs that do not abandon you once you have joined. Some sales people
are very charming and promise unending support. They give you personal email
addresses that no longer work soon after you have been parted from your money. Join
programs that offer training and not just rhetoric. The only condition of the training
should be that you are a member and you want it. Programs that offer print, video and
audio lessons are more attractive to me. Regardless of what anyone says. It should
have very detailed instructions on how to set up an auto-responder sequence. Subscribe
to and read free newsletters on various topics.  It takes longer than a 1/2 hour to read
email that must be answered by a human. It takes time to learn to use all of the
resources available without which the Internet world will never  see your site or product.
Maybe back in the day when competition was not so stiff, it  was easier, but those days
are over.  When you keep track of your Alexa traffic ranking you realize that there are
literally millions of websites. Most of them have read the most popular Guru Reports.
This means that you must read the Guru reports whether you decide to promote them
or not.  Do they all agree? Wouldn't that be a hoot! Taking a college course while working
is a demanding experience. The experts sometimes seem to underestimate what they
did to become millionaires.. Getting started on the Internet is chocked full of on the job
training. Join a couple of communities. Create profiles and blogs to polish your writing
    skills.

    Who was Rosencrantz and Guildenstern?
As a young college student, I remember a time when I sat in class wondering who and
what my teacher and classmates were talking about. I was literally alone in not knowing
who Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were. I didn't ask. I remained silent and mesmerized
throughout the class as these two unfortunate men were discussed. I went directly to the
library after class determined to find out all I could about two buffoons that had taken up a
full 2 hours of my English Lit class.  Ignore the claims that you can do it in 30 minutes a
day. After learning about the relevance to Shakespeare and Literature I went on a mission
to read every major play and playwright I could find. I never wanted to be placed in such
situation again.  It takes longer than that to read the Guru's special report on how he made
the millions. It requires study and planning to really learn something.  Reading takes time.
Do the reading. Use the training.

    What about ebooks?
Download and read the free ones first. If reading a lot from the computer screen doesn't bother
you, read them thoroughly. Try reading the books without clicking on the  links.
If the book makes no sense without the constant and sometimes annoying clicking on
links to other products, you should delete it. It is not worth the space on your
computer.  It was created primarily to sell other products promoted by the creator.
Some classified ad sites will not accept ads for ebooks that they think are cheesy.

Why must I learn to write ads?
As an English teacher, I have heard this question a thousand times. "Does spelling
count?" Regardless of how much  Guru's say that misspelling can do good things
for you, learn to spell. Spelling a word intentionally incorrect to get a desired result is
one thing, spelling it incorrectly out of laziness is another. Incorrect spellings in
Profiles and ads help create your business persona for readers. People have a
tendency to trust  persons and have confidence in people who also have a command
of the language.  Spelling does count. How does it make you feel when there are
misspelled words in Literature and on websites?  How does it  feel when other
people noticed it and you didn't?There are companies that give specific guidelines
on how to write ads. Some are more demanding than others. Compare and use
the ones that support your business goals.

    Do Classified Ads Work?
A few months ago, I received an email complementing me on my ads.  He continued
to inform me that  classified ads do not work and that I was wasting my time.  He
suggested that I quit what I was doing and work with him selling his product.  What
can I say? I have not made a million dollars with classified ads, but the writer did
reach me through the ad. The moral of this story is that the writer contacted me
through an ad. The headline caught his attention, he clicked, perused the
advertised product, decided that he liked the ad and wanted me to work with him.
    the ads work?

    Are Online Networking Communities Helpful?
Online communities have helped me to glean through the many offers
presented.  I have gotten all kinds of information and help from friends
I have met in communities that I am involved in. It is also encouraging to see
leaders or owners of communities who are also involved in other communities.
It was kind of cool having Clay Page click on one of my Adlandpro ads even if
he didn't make a purchase. (He has an Adlandpro Profile) His Adland profile
demonstrated that he practices what he preaches about putting the profile to
work for you.  I have also found that some of the people who run Internet
communities are some pretty great people.  For instance, all of these marketers
have demonstrated some very human qualities:  Clay Page, Bogdan Fedur,
Michael Graves, Michael Filsame,  Ken Sword , Lee Green, Joyce Parker Hyde
    and  John Partington.

It is possible to contact any of the above Internet Marketing professionals personally.
I prefer communities and organizations where the owner and originator is not
concealed by a cloaking device. Down to earth individuals who communicate
with me and leave me messages with contact information that puts me in direct
contact with administration are more attractive to me. Bogdan, and Clay have even
reprimanded me in a way in terms of my taking full advantage of all the resources
available within the networking community.  In  the beginning, I joined a program that
fronted for business located in Panama and one in Singapore.  I would rather know
where businesses are located and exactly who is pulling the strings of operation. I
actually had a business refuse to offer me an affiliate position because they thought I
was not an American company. Companies in other countries are okay now, since the
world has become such a small place, because of the Internet. It is always better to
    know where companies are located.

    Do I need a Blog?
Two years ago I didn't even know what a blog was. For the last year I have been
reading and developing blogs. They come in all types. I am particularly fond of the
free ones that allow photos, html and google ads. I also like the idea that I can get
a few things off my chest on many topics. They are quite therapeutic and basically
serve a similar function as hard copy written journals. They are just covering topics
that you wish to share with the general public.  I have even joined a
blogging community.  In this community I have noticed that veteran marketers with
very professional portfolios are also blogging members. Experts agree that it is a
good way to market all types of goods and services. Do you really need one? That is
    your call.
